Tolaini "Picconero" Toscana I.G.T. 2019 (1x75cl)

Toscana IGT is worth understanding, because it explains a lot about modern Tuscany. IGT is Italy's broader regional tier, and sitting there frees a producer from the grape and blending rules of a DOC. That freedom is exactly why many of Tuscany's more ambitious reds are labelled this way rather than under a famous appellation. "Picconero" is the cuvée name on this label.

Practically speaking, treat it as a proper dinner red: give it time in the glass, put it next to beef, lamb or an aged cheese, and it will make sense. It also travels well as a gift when you want something Italian that is not the obvious bottle everybody already brings.
