Collection: Margaux

Margaux is the southernmost of the four great Médoc communes, and the one everyone describes the same way: the most perfumed and the least austere.

Why. The gravel here is finer and shallower than in Pauillac, and the wines come out lighter-framed with more floral aromatics and softer tannins. If you have tried young Pauillac and found it hard work, Margaux is where to go instead.

It is also the largest of the four communes, with more classified estates than any other — which means the quality range is wide and the name alone does not guarantee much. Who made it matters more here than in Saint-Julien.
