THORNE & DAUGHTERS Cat's Cradle Chenin Blanc 2021 (1x75cl)

South Africa has more old Chenin Blanc vines than anywhere else in the world, and the Swartland is the region that made the rest of the wine world take the grape seriously. That is the context behind this bottle. "Cat's Cradle" is the cuvée name on the label.

If your reference point for Chenin is the Loire, expect something different here: dry South African Chenin is generally more textured, with a bit more weight across the palate. It handles roast chicken, pork, and richer seafood dishes well, and it is an interesting bottle to bring to a dinner where everyone else turns up with Chardonnay.

Chenin Blanc usually gives orchard fruit such as pear and apple over a firm line of acidity, with a dry finish.
