Taittinger Brut Reserve NV (1x75cl)

Brut Réserve is Taittinger's non-vintage, and the house is one of the few large Reims producers still family-run. It carries an unusually high proportion of Chardonnay for a standard brut — around 40%, where most houses use far less.

What that means in the glass. Lighter and more elegant than a Pinot Noir-led brut. This is an aperitif champagne first: it opens an evening well and suits lighter food rather than competing with a heavy main course.

When to drink it. Serve well chilled, 8–10°C. Oysters, sashimi, steamed fish, dim sum.

Is it worth it? Taittinger is a recognised Grande Marque name, which matters if you are giving it, and this sits at the accessible end of that group.
