St Henri is matured in large, old oak vats rather than the small new oak barrels used for Penfolds' more famous Grange, which lets the Shiraz fruit itself lead rather than the oak.

A different side of Penfolds' style — fruit-forward rather than heavily oaked.

Tasting notes

Australian Shiraz from South Australia usually shows dark plum and blackberry fruit with a peppery edge. Large-vat ageing like St Henri's tends to preserve more fresh fruit character than small new-oak barrels would.
