St Henri is the Penfolds Shiraz that skips new oak and matures in large old vats instead. That's the whole point of it: the fruit and the region do the talking rather than the barrel, so it drinks differently from the toasty, vanilla-heavy style people often expect from Australian Shiraz.

Tasting notes

Shiraz raised in old vats rather than new oak typically shows dark berry and plum with pepper and savoury spice, and tannin that feels structured rather than sweet. Decant for an hour if you can, and serve around 16-18°C.
