Togouchi is a Japanese whisky house based in Hiroshima. This is a single cask bottling, meaning everything in the bottle came from one cask, and that cask previously held Port. Port cask maturation usually pushes a whisky towards darker, sweeter fruit.

It is numbered 3 of 7 in a limited series, which makes it the sort of bottle a collector-minded friend will remember receiving. Single cask releases are finite by nature, so there is no second batch waiting.

Tasting notes

Whisky finished or matured in Port casks typically shows red berry, dried fig and a sweet spice edge over the base spirit. Neat, in a small glass, with a drop of water if it feels tight.
