Mâcon-Verzé sits in the Mâconnais, the southern end of Burgundy, and Chardonnay from here is usually leaner and more citrus-driven than the heavily oaked whites people picture. Easy drinking without being simple.

Serve it cold but not ice cold — half an hour in the fridge is plenty. Steamed fish, prawns, oysters, or just on its own before dinner.
