A 2010 Rioja from CVNE, labelled Reserva. In Rioja that word is a legal ageing category, not marketing: a Reserva has to spend a set minimum time in barrel and then in bottle before it is allowed out. Rioja reds are usually led by Tempranillo.

This one has fifteen years of bottle age, and bottles of that age vary from one to the next, so we cannot promise the condition of any particular bottle. Stand it upright for a day before you open it and pour gently in case there is sediment. Free delivery in Hong Kong over HK$800, flat HK$80 below that.

Tasting notes

Aged Rioja usually moves from fresh red fruit toward dried fruit, leather and sweet spice, with the tannins typically softened by time in barrel and bottle. Good with roast meats or a slow-cooked dish.
