Connetable de Talbot 2018 (1x75cl)

Connétable de Talbot is the second wine of Château Talbot, a Fourth Growth of Saint-Julien classified in 1855. The estate is named after an English commander of the Hundred Years' War.

The house style. Talbot is the softer, rounder side of Saint-Julien — generous rather than austere, and easier to approach young than most classified Left Bank wines. Connétable takes that a step further.

Why 2018. A hot, dry vintage that produced ripe, deeply coloured wines with real structure behind the fruit. On a second wine that means more body than usual for the price.

When to drink it. Now with an hour in a decanter, or hold three to five years. Red meat, braises, roast duck.
