Chateau Rieussec 2009 (1x75cl)

Chateau Rieussec 2009 is a Sauternes First Growth (1855) sweet white. The 2009 technical figures recorded via Compagnie Medocaine (AXA Millésimes group, same ownership family as the estate) give a blend of 84% Semillon, 12% Sauvignon Blanc and 4% Muscadelle, 14% alcohol, average vine age about 35 years. Fermentations are carried out in barrels with plot-level selection; ageing is typically 18–26 months with about 50–55% new barrels. The vineyard adjoins d'Yquem on gravel with a fine silt overlay.

Tasting notes

Recorded notes describe citrus and fresh fruit complemented by candied apricot and fresh almond; great length with freshness and liveliness of fruit; honey and acacia flower very present after long barrel ageing that rounds a powerful whole.
