Chateau Pontet Canet 2007 (1x75cl)
Chateau Pontet Canet 2007 (1x75cl)
Pontet-Canet is a Fifth Growth of Pauillac and one of very few classified Bordeaux estates farmed biodynamically — horses in the vineyard, no synthetic treatments, part of the wine aged in clay amphorae.
Why 2007 at this price. A cool, wet vintage and one of the weakest of the decade in Bordeaux. That is exactly the point: you get the estate, the terroir and the winemaking without paying for a trophy year, and there is nothing to wait for.
When to drink it. Fully mature. Decant thirty to sixty minutes. Roast lamb, duck, mushroom dishes.
How it compares. If you want the serious Pontet-Canet, 2008 is the one — a far better year at the estate.
Note on older bottles. Fill level and cork condition vary at this age. Read the listing before buying.
