Chateau Olivier Blanc, Pessac-Leognan 2015 (1x75cl)

White Bordeaux gets overlooked in Hong Kong, which is a shame - Pessac-Leognan blanc is one of the better things to put next to steamed fish, prawns or a plate of scallops. This is the white from Chateau Olivier, 2015.

Chill it, don't freeze it: an hour or so in the fridge, then let it sit a few minutes in the glass. Whites from this appellation usually have enough body to handle richer dishes too, so it isn't just an aperitif bottle.

Tasting notes

Pessac-Leognan blanc is usually Sauvignon Blanc with Semillon, typically showing citrus and white peach, a grassy or flinty edge from the Sauvignon and a rounder, waxy texture from the Semillon. Barrel-aged examples generally add a light toasty note, and with age the citrus often softens toward something more honeyed.
