Montrose sits in Saint-Estephe at the northern end of the Medoc, and its wines are usually built on Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2017 is a bottle for a table that will actually slow down and pay attention to it.

A common choice for milestone dinners and serious gifting. If you are opening it soon, decant for an hour or two; otherwise it is one to keep.

Tasting notes

Cabernet-led Saint-Estephe usually shows cassis, dark cherry, cedar and a stony, savoury edge, with structured tannins that typically need time or air to relax.
