Chateau Lynch Bages 2013 (1x75cl)
Chateau Lynch Bages 2013 (1x75cl)
Lynch-Bages is a Fifth Growth of Pauillac on paper. In practice it has traded and been rated at Second Growth level for decades — it is the classic example of the 1855 classification being out of date.
What Pauillac means. The commune of Latour, Lafite and Mouton. Pauillac reds are the most structured and longest-lived on the Left Bank: firm cassis fruit with cedar and graphite behind it. Lynch-Bages gives you that character in a rounder, more immediately generous form than its neighbours.
Why 2013. A difficult, light vintage across Bordeaux. That means two things: it is ready to drink now with no waiting, and it costs a fraction of what the same label costs in a strong year.
When to drink it. Now, decanted an hour. Red meat, lamb, aged cheese.
As a gift. A name that a Bordeaux drinker in Hong Kong will recognise instantly.
