Saint-Julien is the middle ground of the left bank - structured without being severe, which is why it slots into so many dinners. Langoa Barton isn't the loudest name on a wine list, and that's part of the appeal if you'd rather the wine did the talking.
2016 has settled a bit but is still on the young side, so give it an hour or two in a decanter. Works for a Mid-Autumn dinner, a client meal, or a bottle you bring when someone else is cooking.
Tasting notes
Saint-Julien blends usually lead with Cabernet Sauvignon alongside Merlot, typically showing blackcurrant and dark cherry with cedar and a hint of tobacco leaf. Tannins in this style are generally firm but fine, and at this age the fruit is usually still front and centre.
