Chateau La Gaffeliere 2011, St. Emilion (1x75cl)

Chateau La Gaffeliere is a right bank Saint-Emilion estate, and 2011 is now old enough to feel settled without asking you to wait another decade. That makes it an easy red to open on a normal evening with people you like.

It handles Cantonese roast meats, a steak at home, or a client dinner where you want something recognisable on the table. Decant an hour ahead if you have the time, and it will be fine if you do not.

Tasting notes

Merlot-led Saint-Emilion usually shows dark plum and cherry with a savoury, sometimes cocoa-like edge, and tannins that feel rounder than left bank reds. Serve around 16-18°C.
