A Saint-Emilion red from 2013. Right bank Bordeaux like this is usually Merlot-led, so it typically feels softer and rounder up front than a left bank wine, with less of that firm tannic edge. Around a decade in bottle generally makes a wine like this easier to enjoy straight away.
A sensible choice when you want a Saint-Emilion for dinner without saving it for a special occasion. Works with steak, roast chicken, or char siu if that is what is on the table. Serve around 16-18°C, and half an hour open in the bottle is usually enough. Free delivery in Hong Kong over HK$800, flat HK$80 below that, no minimum order.
Tasting notes
Merlot-led Saint-Emilion typically shows red plum, cherry and a hint of chocolate or sweet spice, with medium, rounded tannins. Bottle age usually softens the fruit into something gentler.
