A Margaux red from 1979, meaning over 45 years in bottle. Margaux is usually the more perfumed, lighter-framed side of the left bank rather than the muscular one. At this age the wine sits firmly in old-wine territory, and bottles this old vary considerably from one to the next, so we make no promises about condition.

Mostly this is a bottle for a specific reason: a birth year, a big anniversary, or a gift for someone who genuinely enjoys older wine. Stand it up for a day or two before opening, pour carefully off the sediment, and drink it without rushing off to do something else. Tasting notes

Very old Margaux typically shows dried rose, potpourri, dried red fruit and forest floor, with tannins that have long since softened. At this age every bottle tells its own story.
