Chateau Cos D'Estournel, St.Estephe 2007 (1x75cl)
Chateau Cos D'Estournel, St.Estephe 2007 (1x75cl)
Cos d'Estournel is a Second Growth of Saint-Estèphe — the estate with the pagoda towers, built by a nineteenth-century owner who traded with India. It is one of the most recognisable châteaux in Bordeaux.
What Saint-Estèphe means. The northernmost of the great Left Bank communes, on heavier clay soils. The wines are firmer and longer-lived than Margaux or Saint-Julien, and Cos is the estate that shows that structure with the most polish.
When to drink it. 2007 was a lighter vintage, which means it is fully ready now rather than needing another decade. Decant thirty to sixty minutes. Beef, lamb, aged cheese.
As a gift. A recognisable Second Growth at a price well below the great vintages of the same estate.
