Chateau Branaire Ducru, St. Julien 2021 (1x75cl)

Chateau Branaire-Ducru 2021 is a Saint-Julien red from an estate classified as a Fourth Growth in 1855. The official estate technical sheet gives a blend of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 6.5% Cabernet Franc and 5.5% Petit Verdot. Harvest ran from 24 September to 14 October at just over 32 hl/ha after a cooler, wetter season than 2018–2020; Cabernets benefited from a fine late season after mid-September showers.

Tasting notes

The estate describes a fine, complex bouquet — refined and elegant, born of more classically Bordeaux conditions — with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc taking centre stage for early pleasure as well as ageing.
