CHAMPAGNE LOUIS ROEDERER Collection 245 (1x75cl)

Collection is what replaced Brut Premier, Louis Roederer's non-vintage, in 2021. The number — 245 — is the count of Roederer harvests since the house was founded, so each release carries its own identity rather than aiming to taste identical every year.

What is different about it. It is built around a perpetual reserve: a solera-style blend started in 2012 that a portion of each new vintage is added to and drawn from. That reserve gives the wine depth that a straightforward non-vintage blend does not have.

The style. Drier and more precise than most house brut — Roederer keeps the dosage low, so the wine tastes of fruit and texture rather than sugar.

When to drink it. Serve at 8–10°C. It has enough structure for the table, not just the aperitif hour.

Is it worth it? Roederer also makes Cristal, and the same team makes this. Among people who drink champagne regularly it is one of the most recommended bottles at the price.
