Lagrave-Martillac Blanc 2021 is the white second wine of Château Latour-Martillac in Pessac-Léognan (Vignobles Jean Kressmann). The official estate technical sheet gives a blend of 50% Sauvignon Blanc and 50% Sémillon, at 13% alcohol, from about 9 ha of clay-limestone on the eastern slopes (vines about 30 years; HEV-certified sustainable farming). Fruit was hand-picked plot by plot (Sauvignon 9–21 September; Sémillon 15–21 September), fermented in oak barrels, and aged seven months on lees with 20% new oak; bottled at the château in March 2022 (about 10,000 bottles).
Tasting notes
The estate describes a clear pale colour with green reflections; a nose of citrus, fresh white fruit, jasmine and acacia; a fresh palate of grapefruit opening into yellow and exotic fruit; and a tasty finish — to drink within about three to five years.
