Fattoria dei Barbi Brunello di Montalcino 1996 comes from the Colombini family, who first arrived in Montalcino in 1352. The family says Pio Colombini produced its first bottles of Brunello, and his son Giovanni opened Italy's first public wine shop in the Fortress of Montalcino in 1936. Giovanni also started the first mail-order sales of Tuscan wines and early overseas sales, and opened the cellar to visitors in the 1950s, one of the first steps in wine tourism.
