Delas Saint-Joseph Les Challeys 2021 (1x75cl)

Delas Saint-Joseph Les Challeys 2021 is a Northern Rhône red from Maison Delas Frères. The official Delas cuvée technical sheet gives 100% Syrah from parcels between Mauves and Chavanay on light schist and gneiss over granite. Fruit is hand-picked at optimum ripeness and fully destemmed; fermentation runs at 28–32°C in open concrete tanks, with malolactic fermentation in tank. Part of the wine ages in barrels and part in tank before blending and bottling (average production about 65,000 bottles).

Tasting notes

The estate sheet describes a ruby-red colour; a seductively fruity nose of raspberries, strawberries and blackcurrants with a delicate hint of wood; good volume on the palate; and grippy tannins that reflect the terroir. Pair with grilled or marinated beef, stews, game or cheese.
