Tannat is the grape Uruguay is known for, and this is a single vineyard bottling from Bodega Garzón in Maldonado, near the coast. If you have never had a Uruguayan red, this is the obvious place to start.

Tasting notes

Tannat usually runs dark and firmly tannic, typically with blackberry, plum and a savoury edge, and it generally softens with air. Decant it or open it an hour ahead, and serve with something fatty.
