Rioja, and what the labels mean. Spain grades by ageing, not by vineyard. Crianza is the youngest, then Reserva, then Gran Reserva — which by law has spent years in barrel and bottle before release. It is one of the few places in the world where a decade-old wine is sold at a normal price, already ready to drink. La Rioja Alta Gran Reserva 904 and CVNE Contino are the examples on our list.
