Wild Turkey Rye Bourbon (1x75cl)

This is a rye, not a bourbon. The two are legally separate: rye whiskey has to be at least 51% rye, bourbon at least 51% corn. That one difference is why rye comes across drier and more peppery where bourbon runs sweet.

Wild Turkey is a Kentucky name most people already recognise, and this is a mixing bottle rather than one to fuss over. Old Fashioned, whiskey sour, or a tall glass with soda and ice on a hot evening. Sensible thing to hand over as a host gift too. Free delivery in Hong Kong over HK$800, flat HK$80 below that.

Tasting notes

Rye whiskey usually shows black pepper and baking spice over a drier frame than bourbon, with less of the vanilla and caramel sweetness that new charred oak gives a corn-led whiskey. It holds up against bitters, citrus and sugar instead of getting lost.
