Van Zeller 30 Year Old Tawny Port NV (1x75cl)

A 30 year old tawny from the Douro in Portugal. Tawny spends its years in wood rather than glass, so it turns amber and goes nutty instead of staying dark and fruity — a different animal from vintage port.

The useful part: an opened bottle of tawny keeps for weeks in the fridge, so you can have a small glass after dinner without finishing it. Pairs well with almond cookies, walnut cake, or a hard cheese. Also an easy gift for someone who already has too much wine.

Tasting notes

Tawny port with this much wood age typically shows walnut, dried orange peel, caramel and fig, with a gentle sweetness and a dry, nutty finish. Serve lightly chilled, around 12-14C.
