TE MATA Cape Crest Sauvignon Blanc 2022 (1x75cl)

Most people hear New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc and picture Marlborough — loud, grassy, passionfruit everywhere. This is not that. Cape Crest comes from Hawke's Bay on the North Island, where the style is generally rounder and more textured, with the aromatics dialled back a notch. "Cape Crest" is the cuvée name on the label.

That extra weight is what makes it useful at the table rather than just as an aperitif. Think roast chicken, prawns, scallops, or a creamy pasta — dishes where a very sharp Sauvignon would feel thin. A good bottle to bring if the group has already had plenty of Marlborough and wants something a bit different.

Hawke's Bay Sauvignon Blanc usually shows citrus and stone fruit with a fuller, more textured palate and a gentler herbal note.
