Sena 2023 (1x75cl)

Seña 2023 is the flagship Aconcagua Valley red of Viña Seña (Eduardo Chadwick), farmed biodynamically in Chile’s Andean foothills. The official estate 2023 technical sheet gives a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Malbec, 15% Carménère and 6% Petit Verdot, at 13.5% alcohol, aged 18 months (90% French oak barrels, 10% foudres). Harvest began with Malbec on 7 March and finished with Carménère on 24 April–11 May 2023 — about a week earlier than usual after a warm season tempered by foggy coastal mornings.

Tasting notes

Winemaker Emily Faulconer (February 2025) describes brilliant cherry-red with violet hues; a nose of fresh red currants, lavender and graphite with balsamic and cigar-box nuance; a palate of fresh red fruit with marzipan, tobacco, toasted coffee and liquorice; fine polished tannins; and a long, precise, fresh finish with strong ageing potential.
