Luce Brunello di Montalcino 2017 (1x75cl)

Brunello di Montalcino comes with two rules worth knowing: it must be 100% Sangiovese, and it must spend a set minimum time ageing before it is allowed to be released. Montalcino is in southern Tuscany, one of the warmer corners of the region.

This is a structured red built for a proper meal rather than a glass on the sofa. Put it with something with fat and salt on the plate, give it time in the decanter, and it will make more sense than it does straight out of the bottle.

Tasting notes

Sangiovese from Montalcino usually shows sour cherry, dried herbs and firm tannin with bright acidity. Typically good with steak, braised beef, or aged hard cheese.
