Les Tourelles de Longueville 2009 (1x75cl)

This is the second wine of Château Pichon Baron in Pauillac, on Bordeaux's left bank. Second wines come from the same estate and the same team, usually in a more approachable style than the main label — and with a 2009 you are getting more than 15 years of bottle age.

Left bank Pauillac is the safe answer for a Chinese dinner with roast meats, or as a gift when the person receiving it knows Bordeaux. Decant it if you have time.

Tasting notes

Aged Pauillac typically shows blackcurrant and dark plum moving towards cedar, pencil lead and tobacco leaf, with tannins that have settled down over the years into something smoother.
