Le Petit Cheval Rouge, ST. Emillion 2010 (1x75cl)

Saint-Emilion is on Bordeaux's right bank, where the blends are Merlot-led with Cabernet Franc alongside. That combination usually gives a rounder mouthfeel than a left bank red, with a bit of savoury lift from the Cabernet Franc.

Fifteen years in bottle means bottles vary from one to the next, so go in expecting an older wine rather than a fixed result. Stand it up a day ahead, open it gently, and decant if you see sediment. Best kept for a dinner where people will actually sit down and pay attention to it.

Tasting notes

Aged right bank Bordeaux usually shifts from fresh fruit towards dried plum, tobacco and a softer, more savoury profile. Typically suited to roast lamb, beef, or a slow-cooked main.
