Le Macchiole Bolgheri Rosso 2020 (1x75cl)

A Bordeaux-style blend from Bolgheri on the Tuscan coast, where the warm sea-influenced climate usually gives riper, rounder reds than inland Tuscany. Easier drinking than a lot of Italian reds at this level, without going soft.

Open it with steak, lamb, braised beef or a big plate of pasta. It's also a good bottle to bring to someone else's dinner, since Bolgheri is familiar enough to be appreciated but not so obvious that it feels like a default pick.

Tasting notes

Bolgheri reds of this style typically show dark cherry and blackcurrant with herbal, slightly savoury notes and firm but polished tannin. Decant for half an hour if you have time, and serve around 16-18°C.
