La Dame de Montrose 2014 is the second wine of Chateau Montrose in Saint-Estephe. The estate says the cuvee was created in 1983 as a tribute to owner Yvonne Charmolue, and that it is born from a selection predominantly of Merlot that draws uniqueness from the estate's cooler terroirs. For 2014, the estate sheet gives 50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot, with micro-parcel vinification, gentle extractions and five press qualities, then 12 months in French oak barrels with about one-third new oak, from clay on limestone bedrock and Terrace No.05.
Tasting notes
The estate describes a crimson tint, spice and ripe fruit on an elegant nose, a fresh, elegant and silky attack with attractive tannic structure, a full, well-rounded mid-palate, and a long finish with touches of liquorice.
This is an older vintage. It was sourced from a reliable, proven source, checked for authenticity by our in-house sommelier, and stored in our constant-temperature cellar after arrival.
