Sauvignon Blanc from Stellenbosch, South Africa, 2023. Weather Station is the cuvee name on the label. South African Sauvignon usually sits between the two styles most people know: not as loudly grassy as New Zealand, not as tightly flinty as the Loire — somewhere in the middle.

It has a screw cap, which is worth saying plainly: no corkscrew, easy to open anywhere, and it keeps a young white tasting fresh. Good bottle for a picnic, a hotpot night that needs something cold, or just the fridge.

Tasting notes

Sauvignon Blanc in this style usually shows citrus, passionfruit and green herbs with high, refreshing acidity. Serve it properly cold, around 8-10°C, with oysters, prawns, steamed fish or salad.
