Nuits-Saint-Georges sits on the firmer, more structured side of the Cote de Nuits — less floral charm, more grip and earth. This one carries the named lieu-dit Aux Herbues on the label, so you know the fruit comes from one site rather than being spread across the village.

The other thing here is age. A 2012 has over ten years in bottle already, which is the part most people never get to wait for. Good for a dinner where you actually want to talk about what is in the glass, or as a gift for someone who drinks Burgundy.

Tasting notes

Aged Burgundy Pinot Noir usually moves away from fresh red fruit towards dried cherry, mushroom, tea leaf and forest floor, with tannin that has softened but not disappeared. Decant gently, serve around 16°C, and expect some sediment.
