Guigal Condrieu La Doriane 2022 (1x75cl)

Condrieu is a tiny appellation in the northern Rhone, and Viognier is the only grape allowed there. So if you have only ever had Viognier as a blending grape, this is where it gets the whole stage to itself. La Doriane is the cuvee name on the label.

Condrieu is normally drunk young rather than cellared for years, so 2022 is right where you want it. Open it with roast chicken, crab, or anything with a bit of butter. It also makes a quieter, more interesting client gift than another red.

Tasting notes

Viognier from Condrieu usually leans aromatic rather than crisp — think apricot, peach and white flowers, with a fuller, rounder body than most dry whites. Serve it cool but not ice cold, around 10-12°C, so the aromatics still come through.
