Domaine Jacques Prieur Volnay Santenots 1er Cru Rouge 2011 (1x75cl)

Premier cru Pinot Noir from Santenots in Volnay, Côte de Beaune, from the 2011 vintage. Burgundy reds like this are lighter in colour than most people expect, but they carry a lot of detail on the palate.

Good with duck, char siu, roast chicken or mushroom dishes, and it doesn't need heavy food to make sense. Serve it slightly cool, around 15-16°C, rather than at Hong Kong room temperature.

Tasting notes

Volnay premier cru typically shows red cherry, raspberry, dried rose and a gentle earthy note, with fine tannins and fresh acidity. With this much age it usually shows more savoury character.
