For the first time since 2000 (the debut vintage of Colleoni), in 2012, Marino Colleoni decided to separate the grapes for Brunello grown at Santa Maria (North slope of Montalcino) from grapes grown at Poggio Sant’Arna (Southern side of Montalcino). The intention is to give his clients a more realistic image of the territory (miraculous) of Montalcino. French would be translated into "Terroir". The land in Poggio Sant’Arna is majority of sandy soil due to erosion of a hill, it is 350 meters above sea level, warmer climate with ventilation more humid.
