Chateau Pontet-Canet, Pauillac 2023 (1x75cl)

Chateau Pontet-Canet 2023 is a Pauillac red from an estate classified as a Fifth Growth in 1855. The estate’s official 2023 technical sheet gives a blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot, at 13.5% alcohol. Harvest ran from 7 September to 10 October — Merlot from 7 to 20 September, then Cabernet Sauvignon from 28 September to 10 October after the team chose to wait for full ripeness. The estate works biodynamically and organically on Pauillac gravel south of Mouton Rothschild and d’Armailhac.

Tasting notes

The estate describes a dazzling violet hue; an expressive nose of blackcurrant, strawberry and crisp fruit with menthol and graphite; and an ample, velvety palate of cedar, blackcurrant and strawberry with a creamy, harmonious texture and a long, vibrant floral finish.
