Pauillac leans harder on Cabernet Sauvignon than most of the left bank, and Pontet-Canet is one of the names Hong Kong drinkers already recognise on a dinner table. That recognition is half the reason it works as a client gift — you don't need to explain it.
Still young, so give it an hour in a decanter, or open it alongside something with real flavour: roast beef, char siu, a steak dinner. It also keeps well if you'd rather lay it down a few years.
Tasting notes
Young Pauillac typically shows blackcurrant and cedar with firm tannins and a savoury, graphite-like edge — usually more structured than fruity at this stage.
