Chateau Pontet-Canet, Pauillac 2020 (1x75cl)

A young Pauillac from 2020. At this age a Cabernet-led left-bank red is usually still tight — plenty going on, but it hasn't unwound yet. Pontet-Canet is one of the Pauillac names Hong Kong drinkers tend to recognise on sight, which is part of why it moves as a gift.

Open it now only with a long decant and a proper piece of beef, or leave it a few years and let it settle. Good for a milestone dinner or a bottle you tuck away for later.

Tasting notes

Young Pauillac typically shows blackcurrant, dark plum, graphite and cedar spice, with firm tannins and a long finish. Decant an hour or more and serve at 17-18C.
