Chateau Grand Puy Lacoste 1997 (1x75cl)

A Cabernet Sauvignon-led Pauillac from 1997, so this bottle has close to 30 years behind it. Bottles this old vary from one to the next depending on how they were stored, so treat it as an older wine rather than a sure thing.

Stand it upright a day ahead, open it gently, and pour carefully off any sediment. Nice for a birthday year bottle or a small dinner where people are happy to slow down and talk about what's in the glass.

Tasting notes

Aged Pauillac typically moves away from fresh fruit towards dried cherry, cedar, tobacco leaf and earth, with softer tannins. Mature wines like this can change a lot in the glass.
