Yamazaki 2015 Limited Edition (1x70cl)

A 2015 limited edition from Yamazaki, the distillery near Kyoto that was Japan's first malt whisky distillery and is still its oldest. That single fact is most of the reason the name carries the weight it does in Hong Kong.

The honest situation with Japanese whisky is that it has been hard to get for years now, and older limited editions do not tend to come back once they are gone. So a bottle like this sits closer to collector territory than to the everyday shelf - some people will open it for a milestone dinner or pass it on as a serious gift, others will simply keep it standing upright and sealed.

Tasting notes

We will not put words in this bottle's mouth. Japanese single malt of this sort is usually approached neat or with a few drops of water at room temperature, in a tulip glass, so nothing gets flattened - and that is how most people handle a limited release rather than mixing it into anything.
