Lebanon, which has been making wine for longer than almost anywhere on this site.
The Bekaa Valley. Vineyards sit around 1,000 metres, high enough that the nights stay cold through a hot summer, and the plantings lean on Cinsault, Carignan, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. The reds are warm and savoury with real acidity underneath, and they age well. Prices have stayed reasonable because the names are unfamiliar, not because the wine is.
