Querciabella Palafreno Toscana Rosso IGT 2017 (1x75cl)

Palafreno is Querciabella's Tuscan red, bottled under the Toscana IGT label rather than a village appellation, which is how a lot of the region's more ambitious reds are classified. The 2017 has had time in bottle and is drinking as a dinner wine rather than something to sip on its own.

Open it an hour ahead, or decant. It sits naturally next to grilled beef, roast lamb or anything with a bit of char, and the name carries enough weight to work as a gift bottle for a client dinner.

Tasting notes

Tuscan reds of this style usually lean towards dark cherry and plum with a savoury, herbal edge, and oak ageing typically adds some spice and a firm but polished grip. Give it air before pouring.
