Reserva is an official Rioja ageing category: the wine has to spend a set period in oak and then in bottle before the producer is allowed to release it. That's the practical appeal here — someone has already done the waiting, so the wine arrives in a drinkable place.

Rioja is one of the easier reds to put on a table with mixed company. Try it with roast lamb, jamón, grilled meats or a Sunday roast. Free Hong Kong delivery over HK$800, flat HK$80 below that.

Tasting notes

Rioja Reserva typically shows red cherry and plum alongside vanilla, coconut and dill notes from oak ageing, with softened tannins and a savoury, dried-herb edge. Usually fine to pour straight away, better after 20 minutes open.
