Primeur is the early-release style — bottled young, meant to be opened young, no waiting around. This is the bottle you pull out on a Tuesday when someone drops by, or bring to a hotpot table where nobody wants to think too hard about wine.

Serve it lightly chilled, about 20 minutes in the fridge. Gamay from Beaujolais-Villages usually tastes better a touch cool than at room temperature, especially in Hong Kong weather.

Gamay in this style typically shows bright red cherry and raspberry, a floral lift, soft tannins and low grip — juicy and easy rather than serious.
